More details are known in the case of a Yoakum man who disappeared on Christmas Eve.
Ricardo "Ricky" Grifaldo, 24, was last seen in the early morning hours of Dec. 24 on County Road 392, near the Yoakum Community Hospital, with a woman he was dating, said one of his sisters-in-law, who asked to remain nameless.
The girlfriend told Grifaldo's family that she and Grifaldo met on the side of the road to talk at 2 a.m.
About 4 a.m., the girlfriend got in her car and headed toward home with the understanding that Grifaldo was to wait for a few minutes then also head to her house, said the sister-in-law.
However, the Grifaldos said the girlfriend told them that she never saw Grifaldo turn on his headlights, and he never showed up at her house.
The two were attempting to be discreet because she had another boyfriend.
Grifaldo's sister-in-law said the woman's other boyfriend and Grifaldo had an altercation months earlier after learning she was also seeing Grifaldo.
The family reported Grifaldo missing to the Yoakum Police Department on Dec. 25.
His white Chevrolet pickup was found abandoned on County Road 392 in the spot the girlfriend said they met.
The Lavaca County Sheriff's Office said there was no evidence of foul play.
However, Grifaldo's sister-in-law said he would never abandon his truck or go days without talking to someone in his family.
Grifaldo was last seen wearing a white sweater over a yellow sweater, blue jeans and tennis shoes, according to a news release.
He is 5-feet, 9-inches tall and 165 pounds and has black hair and green eyes.
"Everybody is sad and devastated that something like this happened to him," said the sister-in-law. "If anybody has seen him or knows anything, please contact the sheriff's office or the Yoakum Police Department."
The Yoakum Police Department along with the Lavaca County Sheriff's Office and the Texas Rangers are investigating the case.
