15-year-old boy critically hurt in bike-truck crash on Port Lavaca Drive

A 15-year-old boy was critically injured Friday after a pickup truck hit him on his bike, Victoria Police Department Sgt. Jason Turner said Saturday.

He was airlifted to a San Antonio hospital. The Advocate was not able to update his condition because police had not yet released his name.

The boy was traveling on the 2600 block of Port Lavaca Drive about 9:40 p.m. when he was hit.

It is unknown as of Saturday whether his bike was equipped with reflectors or how the accident happened. The name of the driver also was not available. Police did not release a report of the crash.

No charges were filed in connection with the accident, according to Lt. Ralph Buentello.
