  • Oh for the good old days.
Let's bring back Marshall, Rosenquest, and DA Seerden or the one before him.

    April 16, 2011 at 1:23 a.m.
  • Speak up, you seemed to sum it up better than anybody.

Thinksalot, yea good question. I had heard Mr Hagan was secretly meeting with the DA's people during this whole mess. What a Liar.

    April 15, 2011 at 8:09 a.m.
  • As I recall, David Hagan was opposed to using city dollars to pay for the defense of the city officials involved.

    April 14, 2011 at 10:49 p.m.
  • I wonder if he's been throwing things at the office wall today. I've heard he's pretty good at that.

    April 14, 2011 at 9:19 p.m.
  • From all my readings through the years of the stories and posts on the VA about this, the main issue here to remember it seems, is that Tyler was coddling, (and paying), a Pedophile inside the Office of the District Attorney, for whatever sick reason. The Police Department was notified and looked into the issue, as they do so with crimes on a daily basis, ultimately resulting in the conviction of this pedophile. Tyler had the power to, and used such power, to affect the lives of those who did the right thing, exposing whatever horriblenes was going on in that office.

  • Tell us more SpeakUp1968. Victorians deserve to know the truth about this man they have twice elected to office. Who is this person? Victoria is a town where everyone knows everyone. We use the same launderers our whole lives, go to the same grocery stores and restaurants. We usually know the owners of these establishments and their families. Does anyone in our town _really_ know who Steve Tyler is? I know what it says on his website, and we all heard his campaign. But the stories surrounding this man and his reign of power as our DA are quite frankly, frightening! Where can Victorians find out more truths about this individual should they want to know?!

    April 14, 2011 at 8:35 p.m.
  • Bravo SpeakUp1968. You hit the nail squarely on the DA's coffin. The reason no evidence was submitted is simply because there was none to begin with. What a shameful farse Mr. Tyler has made of his office!

    April 14, 2011 at 6:24 p.m.
  • @speakup 1968/Zorro
R U serious? Did you really post this?
Although you are both right...do you want to close Victoria down?
Hold the City Council, VISD, and all the elected officials accountable for their actions? This is good one and made my day...Thanks
@KCI...yes, blood is thicker than water...which relative are you?

    April 14, 2011 at 6:13 p.m.
  • It's about time, and waaay overdue. Better late than never, I guess. I wholeheartedly concur with the commenters who said this was a personal vendetta on the part of Tyler; that has been patently obvious for a long time.

    April 14, 2011 at 3:33 p.m.
  • KCi, I feel sorry for you.

    April 14, 2011 at 2:38 p.m.
  • vet43..thanks for asking. Yes, I am. Steve Tyler was (and still is) the better candidate by far, even with this failure.

    Re-elect Steve Tyler in 2014.

    April 14, 2011 at 2:31 p.m.
  • Makes me think back to the last election. Everybody happy with their vote?

    April 14, 2011 at 2:16 p.m.
  • Yehhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!
Now where do i go for my refund?

    April 14, 2011 at 12:20 p.m.
  • Brady...Don't hold your breath. Maybe the county could sue him and get the money from his campaign war chest. After this sordid affair, he shouldn't be needing it for another run at the office.

    April 14, 2011 at 11:15 a.m.
  • I don't want to know anything other than when will the city tax payers receive a refund of the 200K Steve Tyler owes us? Only in Victoria, Texas does something so ridculous happen!

    April 14, 2011 at 11:02 a.m.
  • The entire sorted events of this affair, from it's very beginning at the offices of the Victoria Advocate, has made this a very black chapter in the history of Victoria. This entire episode, from beginning to what for now is the end, has made a mockery of the rule of law. Hopefully, a federal investigation will be opened to determine who done what to whom, and the chips fall where they may, and the results be know publicly. All parties to this circus, without exception, are on trial before the court of public opinion. Those on trial before the court of public opinion include all the parties, The Victoria Advocate, DA Steve Tyler, Mayor Armstrong, Ex-Chief Ure, Ex-City Attorney Smith, Leutienant Buentello, Special Prosecutor Terry McDonald and District Judge Stephen Williams. If it is determined that justice is for sale in Victoria, it has come at a terrible cost to this community. There is a stinch about the entire proceedings that can be smelled all the way to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, that in Victoria, a cabal of bad actors has subverted the Rule of Law and the System of Justice. Whether it is a case of judicial activism, power politics, petty grievances gone awry, a vendetta, or prosecutorial misconduct, we all deserve to know the truth about how this terrible legal monster happened. My impression, for what it is worth, is that there are many with blood on their hands.

    April 14, 2011 at 10:43 a.m.
  • What this District Attorney did to Officer Buentello, David Smith, Bruce Ure and Mayor Armstrong is reprehensible. He owes them an apology and he owes the taxpayers of Victoria $291,000. Those who voted him back into office should be embarrassed.

    April 14, 2011 at 10:31 a.m.
  • Tyler, via his secretary, cited a hectic schedule...
I can relate to this...While stationed at Greenham Common, England and Developing the Cruise Missile Program, The Senior Maintenance Chief Cited "Due to the New Weapon system coming on line and my "hectic schedule" I could not comply with my responsibility...
The Colonel stated " I fully understand"... HIS SOLUTION... Sgt. Lopez relieve the Chief of his hectic schedule, you are now in charge...
AND...the Colonel didn't take 3 years to make this decision...

    April 14, 2011 at 10:05 a.m.
  • This whole mess began to take on the feel of a personal vendetta a long time ago, and when things become personal, reason usually exits the room.

    April 14, 2011 at 9:36 a.m.
  • I just have to get this off my chest. Hopefully next election Ms. Branch will run again and this time hopefully Victoria will vote for best qualified and not what they look like. Tyler is looking more like one of the 3 stooges everyday or should I say all three rolled into one. He is making the people who voted him in part of his comedy show. "Get er Done Steve"

  • COULD IT BE that Mr. Tyler is unable to adequately handle his position citing " a hectic schedule?" Is this how Mr. Tyler handles all his cases-or- just the ones that he loses?
WHO KNOWS WHAT LURKS IN THE MIND OF THE DA?
    ONLY "HE"(HIMSELF) KNOWS- i think--------------------------------------

    -------------------------------oh, well-------------------------------------------

    April 14, 2011 at 7:30 a.m.
  • I will be glad when all the this MESS is over and done with. Not sure how the citizens of Victoria can allow this to happen again and again.....

    April 13, 2011 at 11:05 p.m.
  • It's good to be king! Above the law and beyond it's reach.

    April 13, 2011 at 10:10 p.m.
  • In the end, the cases closed in the same fashion as they began: with a complex story line full of twists and accusations...
Hum, are we surprised? Has this not been the norm for Victoria and its elected officials.
Thanks Victoria for having plenty of tax payers to fund these type of follies. NEXT...

    April 13, 2011 at 9:50 p.m.
  • So, who is the next victim on the O'Connor/Tyler hunting list, or do we have to wait until the next election cycle....it is SO easy to accuse someone and totally ruin them, their career, their family while "justice" slowly grinds its wheels.....fact is, by the time the charges get dropped, the damage is mostly done, and the $$$$ and POWER crazed have accomplished their mission anyway....Yet, the people of Victoria refuse to change the way they vote and think....COMMUNITY LEVEL DENIAL....it is a sign of mental illness, you know

    April 13, 2011 at 9:43 p.m.
  • Lol, where are you at southtexas? You scrutinzed these 4 men as guilty once all this started and you acted like Tyler is the 2nd coming of Jesus. Now where are you? Tyler NEVER had anything as far as evidence and now that it is closed, the documents can be made public record. 9,000 people voted for him this last election. I got some ocean property in Arizona for you guys if you are that gullable.

    April 13, 2011 at 9:42 p.m.
  • Y'all voted the idiot to a second term, I didn't. JK

    April 13, 2011 at 9:26 p.m.
  • DA For Life Tyler may have another 3.5 years on his term, but he should immediately apologize to the taxpayers for this extraordinarily stupid, wasteful and expensive farce. The level of legal incompetence and prosecutorial misconduct demonstrated by DAFL Tyler is remarkable. I cannot express how much better Victoria will be viewed from the outside world now that this is no longer news throughout the state.

    April 13, 2011 at 9:15 p.m.
  • Another nail in the DA's coffin. Time to start a hell of a campaign slogan hmm some thing like "Get er done" might be enough for those that voted for you last time. (Maybe)
