Calhoun Air Center awarded honorary seal
Women Of Aviation Worldwide on March 18 awarded the Calhoun Air Center a Certified Women Friendly Flight Training Facility seal.
The flight school is one of 13 flight training centers worldwide to receive the award.
By participating in Women of Aviation Worldwide Week, the air center shows commitment to encouraging women to consider aviation as a hobby or career, Mireille Goyer, Women of Aviation Worldwide's founder, said in a news release.
"We are confident that women who choose Calhoun Air Center as their flight training provider will receive outstanding support to help them reach their aviation goals," she said.
To receive the seal, training facilities must support community outreach programs toward girls and women and be actively involved in promoting aviation to women.
Calhoun Air Center's airport manager, Dianna Stanger, displayed a personal commitment to help the Women Of Aviation Worldwide community achieve its goals by offering 98 female passengers free rides in her Eurocopter helicopter during Women of Aviation Worldwide Week, March 7 through 13.
Participants were also encouraged to sign up for organizations geared toward youth interested in aviation, such as the Young Eagles and Girls With Wings.
