Don Polzin, Gulf Bend Center executive director, was recently appointed director-at-large for the Golden Crescent Regional Planning Commission board of directors. Polzin is a native of Cuero. He has worked in the public sector for more that 39 years and has been employed at Gulf Bend Center in Victoria for 33 years. He has served as the center's executive director for the past 14 years.
Mark Daigle, board chair for Gulf Bend Center's board of trustees, was elected to the Texas Council of Community Centers board of directors as second vice chair. Daigle has served on the center's board of trustees since January 2000 and has been the board chair since September 2004. He has served on the board of the Texas Council of Community Centers since January 2003.
Daigle, chief deputy with the Calhoun County Sheriff's Office, has been with the agency since August 1988.
John Burke recently began work as the building maintenance manager for University of Houston-Victoria Facilities Services. He is in charge of taking care of all university buildings and managing the maintenance staff. Burke had previously worked for UHV for five years and had performed contract work in the private sector.
Carolyn Fritz was recently named the March Employee of the Month at the University of Houston-Victoria. She is the records coordinator in the Registrar and Student Records Office and has worked at UHV since 2005. Fritz received a framed certificate and a $50 gift card.
