St. Mary's Altar Society has meeting
St. Mary's Altar Society met Dec. 10 for their regular meeting and Christmas social. Forty-nine members and three guests were present. President Al Bomba welcomed members, and the Rev. Dan Morales led the invocation. Bomba thanked the members for the cash donations and food items brought for the St. Vincent de Paul Society Pantry.
Janell Kruppa, 361-575-8166, and Cathy Fojtik, 361-573-4328, are still taking donations for the church Christmas flowers in memory or honor of a loved one. Brenda Lejune, altar care person for December, announced that the church will be decorated at 2 p.m. Dec. 23. Members are asked to be present. Parishioners are also invited to help with this project.
A membership recruitment meal will be Jan. 13 after the 10 a.m. Mass. Men and women are welcome to join. The society will provide the meal. The parish is invited to come. Bring a gift for the Gabriel Project.
The meeting adjourned with prayer led by the Rev. Pat Knippenburg. The members sang Christmas songs led by Margaret Clegg playing the violin. She then presented a program of other songs.
The Altar Society officers, Al Bomba, Charlotte Sartor, Pattie Steves, Lorraine Hebert, Geraldine Jurica, Stella Silva, Frieda Stubbs and past president Shirley Kloesel were the hostesses for the Christmas Social. The occasion was enjoyed by all present. Door prizes were presented.
The next meeting will be 2 p.m. Jan. 14.
