Laureate Alpha Omicron Chapter of Beta Sigma met recently in the home of Frances Smith with Loretta Johnson presiding.
Co-hostesses were Marcy Turk, Mary Helen Goldsmith and Marilyn Logan.
Logan, treasurer, reviewed the chapter budget, and a $25 donation was made to the Beta Sigma Phi state project, the "Texas 4,000," a bike ride to benefit cancer projects.
Susana Moya, Marcy Turk and Dorothy Koenig volunteered to serve on the nominating committee. The recent Sweetheart Brunch was attended by 21 members. The dinner at Sky Restaurant was attended by 18 along with 3 guests. Parliamentarian Louise Pletcher reviewed songs and read a prayer from the "Book of Beta Sigma Phi."
The program, "13 Things Your Burglar Won't Tell You," was presented by Vickie Kowalik. She stated 105 inmates had been interviewed to glean information about burglary techniques. She gave tips on how to protect your home and yourself from intruders. She stated that wasp spray placed beside your front door was a very good practice. She also recommended keeping your car keys beside your bed at night, so the alarm could be activated if anyone enters your house. The noise should alert your neighbors or attract attention.
The next meeting is Tuesday, March 6, in the home of Gene Evans.
