Saturday Sermon: Understanding the Lord's will
Ephesians 5:17 says "Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is."
Many times we fail to grasp God's will, his purpose on something, because we try in human ability to understand.
Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us to "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him and he shall direct thy paths."
You see, it is God who gives understanding. We get into sin when we rely on our own understanding to figure God out. God is God, and you will end up on a dead end street in life, if you don't trust and wait on God to give you direction. You play the role of God when you try to figure everything out.
As Christians, we are to trust and obey. When God gives us understanding, he gives spiritual discernment, revelation, illumination and spiritual perception to grasp the truth of the circumstance.
Many times we are listening to our own voice of reasoning or the voice of demons and become confused and disappointed in God. God is never our problem. Self love is our problem. If you love God, learn to trust, obey and wait patiently, with the help of the Holy Spirit, for God to give wisdom on what is going on.
Proverbs 1-3 mentions God's understanding 12 times. These verses reveal to us that God alone gives His wisdom, knowledge and understanding. If we want God's mind and purpose on a matter, by faith go to him and he will reveal his will, and you will be blessed. But if you choose to trust your own understanding for God's will, you sin by disobeying God's Word.
Remember the instruction in Proverbs 3:5 "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding." Satan and his demons want us to think we are smarter than almighty creator God.
If you really want to know God's will and get his understanding, stand on his revealed word and gain his peace.
