Man lays down motorcycle to avoid collision (video)
A Victoria man escaped serious injury Wednesday morning when he put his motorcycle down to avoid a collision.
About 8:45 a.m., Thomas Rendon, on a 2002 Harley-Davidson Road King, was traveling north on Laurent Street when a Toyota RAV4 driven by Deborah Byers, of Victoria, pulled out in front of him from Victoria Station Drive, said Sgt. Herschel Buck, of the Victoria Police Department.
"They didn't hit. He laid the bike down to avoid her," Buck said. "He did a good job. He did what he was supposed to do."
Rendon was taken by Victoria Fire Department Emergency Medical Services to Citizens Medical Center, where he was treated and released.
In a message via Facebook, Rendon said he suffered "sprains and muscular strains. No broken bones, only minor abrasions. A very sore back and shoulders."
Byers was issued a citation for failure to yield the right of way, Buck said.
