The 2013 Mid Coast Hurricane & Disaster Conference is April 18 at the Victoria Community Center, 2905 E. North St.

The keynote speaker during the lunch session is Victor Wells, a 30-year veteran paramedic who serves as the program manager for the Emergency Medical Task Force of Texas.

The wrap-up session at 3:30 p.m. features John Metz, warning coordination meteorologist for the National Weather Service.

The annual conference brings together experts in fields related to hurricanes and other disasters and offers three separate tracks for attendees.

Track 1 is designed for industry first responders, critical infrastructure and public works employees. Track 2 has sessions designed for business owners, and Track 3 is geared toward homeowners and other members of the general public.

Registration begins at 8 a.m., with the welcome at 8:45 a.m., and the first session begins at 9:10 a.m.

Registration is $15 in advance and $25 at the door and includes lunch.

A grand prize drawing for a gasoline-powered generator will be held at the end of the conference. Attendees must be present to win.
