Food bank of Golden Crescent vying for Wal-Mart grant
The Food Bank of the Golden Crescent can receive a grant from Wal-Mart if it gets enough votes in the "Fighting Hunger Together" Internet campaign.

The funds will be used to support area child hunger relief programs, according to a news release from the food bank.
"This grant would allow us to continue our backpack program through the summer months when food insecurity is even greater," Robin Cadle, executive director, said in the news release.
One vote per day can be cast through April.
The Food Bank of the Golden Crescent serves 11 counties, including Colorado, Calhoun, DeWitt, Goliad, Gonzales, Jackson, Lavaca, Refugio, Matagorda, Wharton and Victoria.
