Goliad man dies after crashing into house

A 67-year-old Goliad man died after he veered off a highway and struck a home Thursday afternoon.

Randolph Gale Roessler was driving his 2003 Dodge Ram pickup north on U.S. Highway 183 at 2:26 p.m. when he went off the road, drove through four yards and struck a home on Jefferson Street, which is the highway, said Department of Public Safety Trooper Gerald Bryant.

Nobody was in the home, and Roessler was transported to DeTar Hospital Navarro, where he died, Bryant said.

Troopers are investigating the crash, and Justice of the Peace Richard Castillo has ordered an autopsy, Bryant said.
