Crossroads region elections set
The ballots are set for the May 11 city/school elections.
Some entities will be able to cancel their elections because the races are unopposed.
Three entities are holding special elections for either vacant council positions or special issues.

City of Cuero
Council: District 1, John Fuqua, incumbent, 64, sales representative; District 4, Roy Johnson, incumbent, 73, retired; At-large, two to be elected, W. T. "Tony" Allen incumbent, 67, retired; Bill Matthys, incumbent, 66, paralegal; David Ruiz, 60, self-employed.
City of Yorktown
Council: Mayor, Rene Hernandez, 56, incumbent, machinist; At-large, two to be elected, Jerry Alvarez, 51, incumbent, self-employed; Shawna Lamprecht, 42, secretary. Incumbent Mitchell Martin did not seek re-election. Election to be canceled, candidates unopposed.
City of Yoakum
Council: Place 1, Tim Faulkner, 65, small business owner; Place 2, Tim McCoy, 42, information technology manager; Place 3, Annie Rodriguez, 64, insurance sales. All are incumbents. Election to be canceled, candidates unopposed.
City of Nordheim
Council: Mayor, Katherine Payne, 76, incumbent, retired; At-large, two to be elected, Roberta Hale, 55, registered nurse; Larry Baucum, 65, maintenance. All are incumbents. Election to be canceled, candidates unopposed.
Cuero school board
District 1, B.J. Drehr, 51, petroleum engineer; District 2, Gerard Gonzales, 58, small business owner. Election to be canceled, incumbents unopposed.
Yorktown school board
At-large, three to be elected, Jerry Steves, 62, incumbent, retired; Barry M. Watson, 49, chief financial officer; Sarah Hahn, 33, business owner; Patti Harbers, 60, retired; Carole Mueller, 66, substitute driver; Todd Metting, 48, contractor. Incumbents Boyd Weise and H.R. Krause did not file for re-election. Special ballot issue: Chapter 41 to approve options to equalize district's wealth.

Special election to fill unexpired term of Jim Witte: Linda Schmidt, 55, appointed incumbent, insurance. Filing deadline is Monday.
City of Goliad
Council: At-large, three to be elected, Buddy Zavesky, 65, of Goliad, incumbent, funeral director; Lionel Garcia, 55, of Goliad, incumbent, self-employed; Vicki Rubio, 39, of Goliad, incumbent, assistant manager; Roney Powell, 68, of Goliad, retired; Patricia "Liz" Garcia Holsey, 63, of Goliad, retired teacher; Eric Lee Garza, 30, of Goliad, driver.
