St. Edward's stays undefeated at regional tournament
KINGSVILLE - St. Edward's remained the only unbeaten team at the NCAA Division II South Central Regional baseball tournament.
The Hilltoppers defeated Colorado Mesa 6-5 on Friday at Nolan Ryan Field.
In other games, Angelo State beat Texas A&M-Kingsville 9-1, and St. Mary's ousted Colorado State-Pueblo 23-4.
A&M-Kingsville and Colorado Mesa play an elimination game at noon Saturday. St. Mary's and Angelo State will follow with an elimination game at 4 p.m.
The A&M-Kingsville-Colorado Mesa winner will play St. Edward's at 7 p.m. Saturday.
The championship game is scheduled for Sunday at 2 p.m.
If a second championship game is necessary, it will follow at 5:30 p.m.
A&M-Kingsville and Angelo State were tied at 1 before the Rams scored three runs in the fifth inning, two in the seventh, and three in the eighth.
St. Joseph graduate Denver Diefenbach pitched two innings in relief for the Javelinas.
