MARY K. JACOBS
PORT LAVACA - Mary K. Jacobs, 89, passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2013. She was born on June 11, 1923 to the late Sam Courtney and Sally Ballard Pinkston in Whitesburg, Tennessee.
Mary was a civil servant and was a courier for the classified plans for the Atomic Bomb in Oakridge Tennessee, prior to 1945. She had military guards with her and she had no knowledge of what was in the packages she delivered. Mary was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Paul Jacobs; daughter, Mary Pauline Cochran (Robert) of Victorville, CA; son, William "Bill" Jacobs (Karen) of Austin; four grandchildren, Sam Jacobs, Sarah Jacobs, Zachary Insley and Aaron Insley; 2 great-grandchildren, Benjamin Insley and Benjamin Jacobs and other extended family members.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Bill Pinkston.
Visitation will be from 12:00 to 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, April 27, 2013. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 P.M. at Grace Funeral Home with Reverend Tricia Tedrow, officiating. Burial will 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at Jarnagin Cemetery in Morristown, TN..
Pallbearers are Sam Jacobs, Nick Holifield, Zachary Insley and Aaron Insley Honorary Pallbearer is J. R. Byerely.
