EDITH MARIE T. BREWER
YOAKUM - Edith Marie Turner Brewer departed from this life on May 1, 2013. She was born in DeWitt County to the late Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Lee Turner.
Edith's life took her through many changes from the "cedar pencil" and "Big Chief" tablets to the computer.
She married Charles O. Brewer on June 15, 1946. Together they raised two sons. Edith started working at the leather industry in Yoakum during World War II and retired just a few years ago as a custom saddle hand tooler at Double J Saddlery in Yoakum. She enjoyed the simplicities of life by being in the kitchen preparing family meals, writing letters to friends, and reading her Bible. Her strong faith allowed her to rely upon the peace of God to guide her throughout the good and bad times of life. Joyful loving memories of Edith will never be forgotten by all of those who knew her.
Immediate family survivors include her two sons, Gary Brewer and his wife Phyllis of Victoria, Mark Brewer and his wife Linda also of Victoria, two grandsons, Adam Brewer of Albuquerque NM, and Nathan Brewer of Angleton, TX, one granddaughter, Amanda Brewer of Victoria, one great-grandson, Alex Brewer and three step grandchildren.
In addition to her parents Edith was preceded in her death by her husband.
Visitation will be held at Thiele-Cooper Funeral Home in Yoakum on Monday, May 6, 2013 from 5 p.m. till 7 p.m.
Private funeral service will be held.
