JAMES MICHAEL BRANDES
SAN ANTONIO - James Michael Brandes died April 7, 2013, after an illness. Preceded in death by his parents, Coreen Anne Gohlke Brandes and Leslie Joseph Brandes, brother, Gerald Edward Brandes, and loving fiancé, Martha "Bitsy" Wright, Jim spent his life helping others with their problems. He was ordained a Roman Catholic priest in 1957 in Rome and later left the priesthood in 1968. He worked for the San Antonio Alamo Area Council of Governments (AACOG); He retired from city government service in 1998.
Jim is survived by his nieces, Deborah Ann Todd and husband, Marvin Jackson Todd, Jr., Sugar Land, TX; Bridget Kay Wagner, and three children, Otto Elo Raymond (Trey) Wagner, III and Martinique Verdier Wagner, Richmond, TX; Garrett Wade Wagner, McAllen, TX; and Leslie Francis Wagner, College Station, TX. The family wishes to extend their thanks to everyone involved in Jim's care, particularly the staff at the Odyssey House in San Antonio, for their compassionate, personalized care, and comfort and peace of mind to his family.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday, May 17 at 2 pm at St. Anthony de Padua, 102 Lorenz, San Antonio, TX. In lieu of flowers, make a donation in Jim's name for your favorite charity.
