Berneice E Collins

Born on Aug. 9, 1929

EL CAMPO - Berneice Edmonds Collins of El Campo died May 5, 2013 at the age of 83. She was born August 9, 1929 in McGregor to the late Charles Theodore and Martha Welch Edmonds. Music was her life and she was an accomplished pianist. She, along with her husband Richard, founded Collins Music Center in 1957 and she was a longtime piano teacher. She was a lifelong member of the Baptist Church, and was the organist and a co-founder of Memorial Baptist Church, longtime organist for the First Baptist Church and served as an organist for several other churches in El Campo and Louise. She also was the pianist for the Rotary Club of El Campo weekly meetings for many years. She is survived by her daughter Robin Crowell and husband Dale; sons Randy Collins and wife Clarke, Ricky Collins and wife Ginger, and Ronny Collins and wife Bonnie, all of El Campo; grandchildren Craig, Carsen, and Cooper Collins, Casey, Clay, and Calen Collins, Camille Henslee, Julia Bridges, Lauralee Collins, Alexis Crowell, and Cassidy Crowell; great-granddaughters Harper and Brynn; sister Charlene Heath of Waco; brother-in-law Robert Collins and wife Pat of Houston.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband of 53 years, Richard B. Collins. Visitation will begin 2:00 pm Tuesday at Triska Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. The funeral service will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at First Baptist Church with Rev. Rick DuBroc officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park.
Serving as pallbearers are Craig Collins, Carsen Collins, Clay Collins, Cooper Collins, Calen Collins and Cecil Davis. Memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of El Campo.
