SANTOS D. "CHAPO" BENITES
VICTORIA - Santos D. "Chapo" Benites, age 91, passed away Monday, May 6, 2013. He was born October 1, 1921 in Thomaston, Texas to the late Juan and Amada Davila Benitez. He was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church. He served in the United States Army.
He was a hard worker all of his life. After serving in the Army, he worked for the Railroad. He also did carpentry work for construction companies. He enjoyed watching baseball, and animals - especially his cats and dogs.
He is survived by his nieces and nephews, and their families.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Valentina Rios; and brothers, Bonifacio Benitez, Lucas Benitez, and Isidro Benitez.
A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at Colonial Funeral Home. The Funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Thursday, May 9, 2013 at Colonial Funeral Home Chapel with the Deacon Ed Molina officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery, with full military honors under Auspices of Victoria County Veterans Council, AL, CWV, VFW, DAV, MCL, MOWW, Ex-POW, MOPH, VVA and the KWV.
Serving as pallbearers will be Joey Garcia, Jaime Garcia, Vicente Benitez, Emilio Espinosa, Juan Benitez, and Jaden Franco. Honorary pallbearers include George Benitez, Juan Benitez, and Henry Benitez.
