PAULINE A. MORRISON
VICTORIA - Pauline A. Morrison, 96, of Victoria passed away Monday, October 28, 2013. She was born March 5, 1917, in Olivia, Texas, to the late Walter L. and Elvira Swenson Hodges.
She is survived by her son, Paul A. Morrison of Victoria, nephews Tim Hodges (Amy) of Victoria and Bob Hodges (Nancy) of Austin; great nephews Austin Hodges (Ashley) of San Antonio, and Scott Hodges (Betsy), Matt Hodges (Pattie), and Robby Hodges, all of Austin. Pauline is also survived by four great, great nieces and nephews, as well as numerous cousins.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, William A. "Bill" Morrison and a brother, Wayne Hodges.
After moving to Victoria with her parents as a child, she graduated from Patti Welder High School and Victoria College. She worked for the Singer Sewing Machine Co. and operating a sewing business with her mother. Later in life, she worked for many years in the optometry office of Dr. Alan Steele.
She met and married her husband Bill while he was stationed at Foster Field during World War II. They met at church and that set the stage for their 58 years of marriage. They both became involved with a variety of church related organizations and activities at the local level and beyond.
Pauline was fond of the many years that she taught Sunday school and her involvement with her circle at First English Lutheran Church. She was particularly proud of the decades of association that she and Bill had with Texas Lutheran University. The many years Bill served on the Development Board there brought them a great deal of happiness.
Pauline departed this life with the assurance of her faith and the love of her many friends and family.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm Friday, November 1, 2013, at Rosewood Funeral Chapels.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Saturday, November 2, 2013, at Christ the Victor Lutheran Church, Rev. Sharon Wiggins officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Tim Hodges, Austin Hodges, Ronnie Koliba, Duane Gonzales, Joseph Robinson and Rev. Paul Muehlbrad.
Honorary pallbearers will be Rev. Bill Hassel, Rev. Jerry Wirtley, Dr. Mike Hummel and Ralph Swenson.
Memorials may be made to Texas Lutheran University, Christ the Victor Lutheran Church, or People of Hope.
