Here’s hoping the Mission Valley Mustangs are having a terrific summer. With the start of August there are just a few weeks until school starts again. It’s time to make sure you are in a routine of some sort. For those of you who have been sleeping in for the past few months, start going to bed and getting up earlier so your body will be on school time. Also, be sure you are getting some outside playtime every day. Your body needs to acclimate to outside temperatures. Once school begins, you will be outside at least 45 minutes every day for P.E. Get your heart and muscles in shape by doing some vigorous physical activity daily.
I was able to attend a few workshops this summer, which truly got me thinking about you and the new school year. Mission Valley will have its own version of the 2008 Olympics when classes resume. Start practicing your throwing, kicking and hitting skills associated with volleyball, soccer, softball and basketball. Be sure to get your muscles in shape as we will have a Fitnessgram assessment the first nine weeks to compare your development in the spring.
2008-09 will be your year to shine in physical education! Buy a good pair of tennis shoes, and practice tying them snuggly. Make sure you have a belt that will hold up your pants so you can play with ease. Come prepared for class every day!
When you are inside during the hot part of the day you can e-mail me at rhonda.goebel@visd.com. I would love to hear how your summer has been.
Until school starts, keep moving, and keep fit!
