I first came to the Victoria Advocate in January 2010 as a lowly intern during my last semester at the University of Missouri. MIZ!
I worked in the multimedia department, shooting and editing video, until it was time to return to the tiny, one-stoplight Missouri town in which I grew up. California, Missouri -- represent!
That May, I graduated from the world's greatest journalism school with a degree in Convergence Journalism and a minor in Spanish.
The great folks at the Advocate luckily decided to give me a chance at writing, and a week later, I again made the exhausting drive south, this time permanently. Before taking over the Advocate's education beat, I worked as the police reporter and as the ranging reporter for Goliad County.
I am a tried and true Aquarius -- a free spirit, humanitarian and idealistic to a fault. I love my sweet, sweet dog Swaggie, football, traveling, meeting people and hip hop music.
Despite my proud Mizzou origins, I absolutely love it here. I've embraced Victoria and Texas as home, even inadvertently adopting the "ya'll."
So if ya'll ever have any stories you think need to be told, just call. ZOU!
