Dear Alice: Christmas is coming up and I have no clue what to do for my family or if I’m even going to have enough money for presents this year. Sometimes I do little gifts for my best friends and get a few more for my mom and grandma and brothers. I do some babysitting and get money from it and I have a part time job at a restaurant, but that still isn’t enough for all these people’s gifts. What can I do to make theses Christmas presents affordable? -Shortage in Spending

Dear Shortage in Spending: It’s nice that you like to give gifts to your family and friends on Christmas using your own money. Christmas isn’t all about the gifts though; it’s about being with people you love all day and sharing special moments with one another. But you can still show your love through giving, and at inexpensive prices. A great idea for your mom and grandma is to make them tie blankets out of fleece. All you have to do is get two large squares (about 4x6’) of fleece, put them on top of each other, and then cut the edges to tie them together. You can also get the instructions online. Many stores in our mall and at others are having great sales on gift ideas. A good one for your friends would be to get them all cute tees or a box of Christmas candy. I know Rue 21 usually has those tees for about $5 and Wal-Mart has pretty good priced candy and other things that can be good for your brothers. Wal-Mart and Hobby Lobby also have fleece you could use for the blankets. -Lots of Love, Alice
