I just finished reading a 61-page study, commissioned in 2009 by the city of Victoria and published in February of last year.

The study examines the Victoria Community Center -- its facility overview and ways to improve it. The city commissioned the study because it wants to improve it in ways that attract greater use and thus revenue.

An important takeaway from the study, at least in my mind, is that because the community center lacks, among many things, quick access to a hotel, it loses business to other centers down the road. Obviously, cities benefit when out-of-towners visit, stay over night and spend their money at our retail shops and hotels.

Here's the study. What do you think?
