Our blood is comprised of many different components including platelets. Platelets are small cells that help control bleeding and these donations are vital to the community blood supply. As platelet donations only last five days, donors are needed on a regular basis to help maintain an adequate supply.

To help meet patient needs for platelets, the South Texas Blood & Tissue Center (STBTC) is launching the Frequent Platelet Donor Program. Beginning Sunday, July 29, platelet donors will be able to earn a $40 gift card on every 4th donation. The program ends December 31, 2012, giving frequent platelet donors a chance to earn multiple gift cards.

Schedule an appointment to donate platelets at the Victoria Donor Room (1109 Sam Houston Dr.) and ask your technician for a Frequent Platelet Donor card. For more information about this program, visit the “Blood” page at southtexasblood.org or call 800-292-5534 ext. 3500.

Platelet donations can only be made at the Victoria Donor Room and additional requirements apply.
