Welcome to the first entry of my Helping Hands blog, devoted to nonprofit agencies. With hundreds of nonprofit agencies in the Victoria area, the Advocate wants to give them an opportunity to get their information out to the public, feature their accomplishments, publicize their special events and recognize their personnel through our outlets, including print and on-line. This first blog is to introduce our new series -- Helping Hands -- spotlighting a different nonprofit agency each week. The first agency in the spotlight is Mid-Coast Family Services which has a capital campaign underway to build a new family violence shelter. Next month it is hosting a Legends and Legacies Dance and Auction that promises to be one of the exciting events of the year in Victoria. We also invite representatives from nonprofit agencies to write guest columns, blog and/or post items of interest or calendar items on our web site. If your representatives are not comfortable using the web, let me know and I will come to your agency and walk them through the easy process. We want Helping Hands to be a useful tool not only for the agencies to get out information, but for our readers, too, to learn more about who is out there providing services they may need. So reach out and take our Helping Hands. We and the agencies we are working with are here to help. For more information on this week's agency in the spotlight, go to www.midcoastfamily.org.
