At my age, I'm seldom amazed any more. I am more of a been there, done that kind of guy. But when I learned that Hospice of South Texas had won a new Toyota through a contest on Facebook, I was thrilled. It was one of those click on us to vote contests and Victoria's Hospice was competing against some nonprofit groups from much larger areas, including the San Francisco Bay Area, Washington, D.C., and metropolitan Kansas City. Think about that. Victoria and the Crossroads, the Golden Crescent if you will, beat those major metropolitan areas. The numbers were stacked against us, but Victoria prevailed. Well done! The car will be well used by Hospice of South Texas as they serve people in need of its services throughout the region. Having had experience with other hospice organizations a couple of times in the past with my sister and step-father, I know first-hand the work that they do. God bless them, and God bless the people of the Victoria area. There is power in people.
