The Beaumont-Enterprise reported today that a 41-year-old man has been arrested after allegedly fatally shooting a family member at the Jefferson County Courthouse.

According to the article, investigators said Bartholomew Granger, who was arrested, killed a family member just prior to a court appearance for a sexual assault case. It was unclear how the victim was related to Granger.

"The 41-year-old has a lengthy criminal history that includes convictions for possession of marijuana and unlawfully carrying a firearm," The Enterprise reported.

I previously wrote about the courthouse shooting in Smith County when Judge Don Pozzi and Sheriff T. Michael O'Connor announced they would make some changes to Victoria County's courthouse protocol.

Nothing has been announced yet locally.
