Opportunity exists during every election to see how the country has changed, where it is heading and what the people value.

The Pew Research Center released a study Wednesday that tracks the shift in voters and their view of the nation over the past four years.

While the study shows 87 percent, the same amount as in 2008, consider the economy the most important issue, the study also shows that Americans care less about terrorism, energy and immigration than they did in 2008. The study also shows that more Americans are less confident about the nation's place in the global economy
