I was thinking about a recurring dream I used to have. In it I am at the bottom of a body of water. I’m looking up at about a forty-five degree angle. The bottom is covered in olive-green algae. In places the matt is separating from the bottom as gas forms between the algae and the bottom. A short distance away is a large bubble of gas trapped on the bottom. Far above is a sewing needle pointing downward. It slowly falls towards the bubble.

As I grew older the dream became less frequent and the needle got closer and closer to the bubble. I always woke with a start before the needle hit the bubble. What could it possibly mean? Primordial memories? The end of a previous life? One thing for sure is that the memory of that dream has not faded over the years. I can recall the images effortlessly to this day.
