Who is Grover Norquist? Grover G . Norquist, a native of Massachusetts, has been one of most effective issues management strategists in Washington for three decades. Mr. Norquist is president of Americans for Tax Reform (ATR), a taxpayer advocacy group he founded in 1985 at President Reagan’s request. ATR is a coalition of taxpayer groups, individuals and businesses opposed to higher taxes at the federal, state and local levels. ATR organizes the TAXPAYER PROTECTION PLEDGE, which asks all candidates for federal and state office to commit themselves in writing to oppose all tax increases. In the 112th Congress, 238 House members and 41 Senators have taken the pledge. On the state level, 13 governors and 1249 state legislators have taken the pledge. Norquist chairs the Washington, DC - based “Wednesday Meeting,” a weekly gathering of more than 150 elected officials, political activists, and movement leaders. The meeting started in 1993 and takes place in ATR's conference room. There are now 61 similar "center-right" meetings in 47 states.

(my content) Grover Norquist is holding republican congressman hostage with the pledge that he has asked them sto sign. In return, money, lots of money is provided for their reelection campaigns. As you can see, I believe all republicans have signed the pledge. If what they see is true, to go against the pledge and Norquist also means the end of your political career.

Why should someone have so much power and why would any politician agree to the pledge. After all, it is the electorate that votes the politician into office and they in turn should be accountable to the American public and not one person . I don't understand how this is possible and why politicians would be so willing to sell themselves to one individual.

If I could get enough votes interested, anyone who has signed the pledge has broken their promise to the American voter and needs to be booted out of office.

Below, I have inserted a copy of the pledge congressman are asked to sign by norquist followed by a list of congressmen that have signed the pledge.

As I write this, there is speculation that some congressmen want out of this contract and want to vote in violation of the pledge, but no one has come forward to say I am voting to help my constituents..
