The Texas Primaries are Tuesday, March 4, 2008. All registered voters in the state may participate in either the Democratic or Republican Primary but you may only vote in one election. Unlike the General Election held in November where you may vote for candidates of either party, primary election candidates are all from the same party.

In Texas voter registration does not require that you pick a party. Your party affiliation is determined by participating in the primary election and party activities. At a primary you must choose to vote in one party or the other. You own voting history does not prevent you from changing parties.

Once you do vote with one party you may not participate in the political activities of the other party during the same election year. This includes attending the precinct convention or serviing as a delegate to the county convention.
