The last day to register to vote or make changes to your registration for the May 29th Primary Election is Monday, April 30, 2012.

There are two primary elections being held on Tuesday, May 29, 2012. Both the Republican and Democratic parties for Victoria County will be holding their election to nominate candidates for the general election. Registration to be able to vote in either of these elections ends 30 days prior to the election. Since that day falls on a weekend the deadline is extended to the next business day.

If you have moved into Victoria County from another location you must register to vote in the election. You need not have lived here for any period of time before registering because registration does not become effective until 30 days after registration.

If you moved within Victoria County you should update your voter registration to your new residence, even if you only moved a few blocks. The difference of a few feet could place you in a different election precinct as many precinct boundaries use physical boundaries like streets.

Any registration received in the mail and postmarked with April 30th or before will be processed for the primary election. If additional information is needed on the application individuals will have a ten day opportunity to provide the correct information.

Come by the Elections Office at 111 N. Glass to complete and application. The office is open from 8 am to 5 pm weekdays. Only registered voters may participate in the election process.
