There are 41 days to the primary runoff election on July 31st.

Usually we would think 41 days is a lot of time, I mean it is nearly six weeks. But in the middle of the summer there are lots of distractions. July 4th will be in the middle of the week this year so the days before and days after will get caught up in preparation and recuperation. Vacations are in order during the summer and weekends are not the time most of us pause to think about elections. Taking these lost days into account (41 days minus 12 weekend days minus 1 holiday, minus 2 prep days minus 2 recuperation days minus 5 vacation days) and you have only 19 days.

Some of your 19 days left will be work days so minus most of these and we are working with only a couple of days to decide how we are going to vote. With only a couple of days maybe you should think about it sooner rather than wait.

The election will be held on Tuesday, July 31st. Polls will be open from 7 am to 7 pm on Election Day. Voters must attend their precinct polling location on July 31.

The week before we will have early voting in person. Beginning Monday, July 23rd and continuing through Friday, July 27th the Main Early Voting Polling Location will be open from 8 am to 5 pm. On Friday we will use extended hours from 7 am to 7 pm. The address is 111 N. Glass.

A temporary branch polling site will be provided at the Bloomington Fire Station on Thursday, July 26th from 8 am to 5 pm and on Friday, July 27th from 7 am to 7 pm.

If you would like additional information please contact the Elections Office at 576-0124 or elections@vctx.org or you may mail us a request for information to Elections Office, 111 N. Glass, Victoria, Texas 77901.

Enjoy the summer but don't wait too long to think about voting.
