The Republican and Democratic Primary Elections will be held on Tuesday, May 29th but you still have Thursday (May 24th) and Friday (May 25th) to vote early. The Elections Office and the City-County Health Department will be open from 7 am to 7 pm on both days. If you are a registered voter in Victoria County you may vote at either early voting polling location. These elections are open to all registered voters in the county.

The primary election is the time for the political party to select its nominee for the general election. There are lot of good people running for office. Sometimes we'd like to help candidates who are running in different parties. In the primary we just can not do that and we must choose a party. In the general election we may vote for anyone who is on the ballot no matter which party they represent.

Early voting by mail applications may no longer be accepted but we will accept ballots by mail up to and including Tuesday. Since the weekend coming up is a long holiday weekend, you should return your mail ballot now to avoid it being delivered after Tuesday.

Memorial Day weekend presents some additional issues for voting. If you don't vote during early voting make yourself a reminder to vote on Tuesday. After a busy weekend it would be easy to forget. Polls on Tuesday will be open from 7 am to 7 pm at the thirty-five polling locations in Victoria County. You may only vote at your precinct polling location on election day.

If you have questions about where to vote contact the Election Office at 576-0124 or elections@vctx.org. Democracy is all about participating in the process. Voting is part of that process.
