2011 was full of weather-related stories, and taking over the weather beat for the first time I wasn't quite sure what to expect. Of course I knew a hurricane, or at least the threat of one, was always a probability this close to the Gulf of Mexico. I will remember 2011 for the drought, of course, but also for the record 25 consecutive days of 100-degree temperatures in Victoria. The National Weather Service has released its list of the top five weather stories in South Texas in 2011. The list includes the drought but not the heat. Hopefully, 2012 will be a quiet year weather-wise. I'll keep my eye on the Gulf.
