Although hurricane season doesn't officially start until June 1, two tropical storms have already been named. Alberto has come and gone in the Atlantic Ocean and now Tropical Storm Bud is churning in the Pacific. Some experts see a busy storm season with as many as 10 named storms (we already have two!), including four hurricanes with two predicted as major. We will learn Thursday what the official predictions are from the National Hurricane Center, which by the way has a new head -- Rick Knabb. The on-air tropical weather expert for The Weather Channel in Atlanta since May 2010 will start in his new position on June 4. The Advocate's annual Hurricane Preparedness special section is also set to hit the streets Thursday. Be sure to pick one up and make sure you are ready when the storms come. Our Hurricane Central page on the web will also be a valuable resource during hurricane season. Be prepared. Stay safe.
