Sacred Heart walk-off winners over New Braunfels, 8-7

The Hallettsville-Sacred Heart Indianettes (2-0) edged out the New Braunfels Thunder at home Thursday evening, 8-7.
Sacred Heart trailed 7-4 after five innings and added three in the sixth to tie the game. After holding New Braunfels scoreless in the top of the seventh, Sacred Heart scratched across a run in the home half of the seventh to secure a walk-off victory.
Both teams collected 10 hits apiece on the night. Indianettes cleanup hitter and starting pitcher Ella Demel went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs. She pitched five innings, allowed four earned runs on nine hits and did not factor into the decision. Shortstop Rylan Dworksy contributed to the victory and went 2-for-4 with a triple, a run scored, and a run batted in.
Reliever Ainsley Grahmann picked up the win for Sacred Heart. She allowed one hit in two scoreless innings. Left fielder Lanie Haas picked up two RBIs in the win despite going 0-for-4 at the plate.
Up next, Sacred Heart will take on Yoakum on Friday, Feb. 20 as part of the Ganado-El Campo Tournament. Start time is scheduled for 11 a.m.
