BULLARD —

The Bullard ISD Board of Trustees has named Dr. Micah Dyer its lone finalist for superintendent. Trustees approved the action at the conclusion of a special meeting Tuesday.

“We are blessed and excited to have this opportunity to become part of the Bullard Panther family,” Dyer said. “Moving back to East Texas has always been our plan. This is a homecoming, and we look forward to working with Bullard ISD to provide amazing opportunities for the children.”

Dyer joins Bullard ISD from Cuero ISD, where he has served as superintendent since 2017 and earned the Education Service Center Region 3 Superintendent of the Year award. Under his leadership, Cuero ISD received its first Texas Education Agency (TEA) “A” rating in the district’s history. Additionally, Cuero created the most Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs of study of any district in the region and consistently earned one of the highest Career, College, and Military Readiness (CCMR) ratings in the region and state, according to Bullard ISD.

Before Cuero ISD, he served as superintendent in Lovelady ISD for seven years. While at Lovelady, the district was one of only two in the region to receive an “Exemplary” rating. From 2001 to 2010, Dyer held various roles, including teacher, coach, assistant principal, principal and DAEP director in Kirbyville, Trinity, Kennard and Huntington.

“We are excited to welcome Dr. Dyer into our Bullard ISD family,” Bullard ISD Board of Trustees President Stephanie Luper said. “He is a creative and out-of-the-box thinker, and we look forward to seeing where his expertise leads us in the future.”

Dyer and his wife, Jaime, have three children: London (19), Landri (17) and Lainey (14).

Bullard ISD’s interim superintendent Jan Hill will continue in the role through the state-mandated 21-day waiting period before Dyer is formally hired.

    HEARTFELT LETTER

Thirty minutes after the school district made its announcement through its social media pages, Dyer took to his Facebook page to say goodbye to the Gobbler community.

In his public post, Dyer said: “When my family moved here in June 2017 we fell in love with the community. For the past 9 years Cuero has not been a job for us, it has been our home, and we have been fully invested in the Gobbler Nation. God has opened a new path in our families lives. We will never forget our friends, the memories we made, and all the love and support we received over the years. My older children will always consider Cuero home and will forever be Gobblers!!! So it is not goodbye, it is till we see you again. As always, It’s a Great Day to be a Gobbler!, Once a Gobbler Always A Gobbler!!,  and GO MEAN GREEN!!!”
